经常能碰到的。大家有兴趣的做一做。：-)

Actually, I do the following to set up a new user (solaris):
mkdir $HOME (create $HOME directory)
adduser username (instead of edit /etc/passwd)
passwd username (instead of sync?)
chown username:group
