I get an on-site interview (the only interview this year).
I am very worried about both personal issues, hope some senior faculty/
female faculty can give me good suggestions.
One is that during the phone interview, the hiring director asked me "do we
need to prepare for the 2 body problem?". I said "You do not need to worry
about it now.". But the truth is: my husband is an AP on leaving, because I
could never get a faculty position in his city. So he moved out to be with
me (and I am making him a baby. :))
The other one is about my pregnancy. I am 33 weeks pregnant now. Should I
volunteer to tell the department to prepare and see me pregnant? Will I get
discriminated and lose to the other 2 candidates? How do I make the case
that I will be as productive as anyone else in the fall?

打印出来最好的确认页。看到别人的sample，说要手写名字代码，名字，家庭和工作
地址。请问哪里可以找到名字代码呢？还有就是如果退休了，是不是不用写工作单位地
址？

在网上都可以查到代码的啊，好像叫四角代码，原来打电报经常用的。

当然是可以的，可以探亲签证也可以旅游签证，现在美国旅游通签稍微好点，只要准备
好了就行，也可以找代办公司什么的，2355268380，之前我朋友也遇到过这个问题

我就说安排时间不要那么紧迫, 面试的每个学校都同意了, 这样之间好跑厕所. 然后到
了以后, 都提供凳子给我做, 我那时候要像是3rd trimester了. 大家都挺理解的. 没
有水因为怀孕为难我. 有个学校还说, 多少年俺们这里都没有NEW BABY了... 可以给
PROVOST建议弄个LACTATION ROOM了...
另外什么叫2 body problem???

另外你不用担心FALL, 你可以ASK FOR EXTENDING YOUR OFFER TO START AT JAN NEXT
YEAR.

2-body problem is that the school needs to arrange to solve my spouse's
employment problem (maybe he googled me and found that my husband is a
faculty).
So you did tell the school before the on-site interview, that you are
pregnant and need some intermission time between talking to the other
faculty members?
Thank you. I am feeling more encouraged now, to do a good job on my campus
visit!

怀孕不是问题，两地会是大问题，我这里面试Local来的肯定是占便宜的，我去年面试
最后就被问了，我就回答我太太会Quit了过来，她一直很支持我的工作。因为她不是什
么教授，最后就过关了。今年来面的Committee先会用这个去掉不想要的人。
你最好考虑下怎么说比较好，这个问题回答不好会很麻烦，基本上这一条就够据你了。

Getting a couple package is really hard - I know one case where one got AP
and the spouse got Research AP in the same department. If the wife and huby
are in different major, it would be very challenging for the department to
get a deal with another dept for the spouse.
Generally speaking, the committee would avoid any "trouble", unless this "
trouble-maker" is a must-have.

明白了。我自己也是老公在另外一个地方做faculty，比我先开始，确实面试时候有人
问了我，我就石化石说了，人家说瓦塞那你们好艰难哦，两地你还要生娃，但么有一个
人offer我什么two body problem，真是。我也onsite了几个啊。你运气真好。
我是一开始就跟人家说了我怀孕了，我要提前一天到，晚一天走，中间安排慢点。有个
面试地方太远了，我也用同样的理由说不去了，人家也没有为难我。感觉大家对孕妇还
是很照顾的。
你好像也是3rd trimester吧，要照顾好自己和肚子里的宝宝先，这是最要紧的。工作
的机会总是有的。best wishes to you！

He was not offering solving 2 body problem, he was trying to eliminate the
candidates who have 2 body problem....I kind of avoided answering it
directly...

pregnant绝对不是一个负面的因素
但是two body problem 就不好说，主要是他们可能解决不了

It is hard to say. I once interviewed a high ranked private school. There is
only one female faculty in their department. She told me there is another
female candidate. But she has been kicked out of the list as soon as the
search committee saw she was pregnant during her on site.
