if the folder is in c: drive. take the hard drive out now and you will use
it as slave during recovery. Reboot or starting windows will overwrite some
part in c:, in the worst case scenario, the sectors that contain that
folder's file information is overwritten, and all the files in the folder
will be next to impossible to recover.
The old but true word is "backup, backup, backup" especially txt/doc/xls/..
.. files are so small in size (compared to one video files that can be 2GB
each)
