Racially discriminated at Rink's Gun & Sport near Chicago Illinois

Yesterday I took my in laws to Rink's Gun & Sport. I want to introduce
shooting this very American sport to them.
I walked in and ask to use the range, the front cash register clerk pointed
me to a register near the range door.
There the clerk asked me if I want to use the range and I answered yes.
I took out my wallet and ready to pay, my wife walked in with my kids and
asked me in Chinese: “孩子要peepee,你问问厕所在哪里 (Kids want to peepee,
please ask the clerk where the restroom is.”
Totally unexpected, the clerk yelled at my wife: "English Only!”
“what???” Me and my wife were shocked and looked at him, kids were
scared。
I said:“I can speak whatever language with my family."
The clerk said in a very rude tone: "Not in my store."
I said: "You want English? I have an English word for you, FUCK YOU!"
The clerk said: "Fuck you."
The manager heard our argument and asked me what happened.
I explained what happened, and the manager said: "This is America, you need
to speak English. It's our policy, it’s on the door."
I said:" I am American and I can speak whatever language I want to speak,
especially with my family."
...
Kids are scared and my in laws are very nervous. Me and my wife were really
mad.
We walked out and look at the policy and I took a picture.
I told the manager, I will let my lawyer talk to him, this is not ending
like this.
After coming back, I talked with some friends who knows the law, apparently
the chance to win is quite small if I go to court.
But I have been thinking, what if I bring someone who is deaf, who only use
sign language, so this deaf can't be in their store?
Someone like my mother in law who is American citizen but speak very little
English, can't be in their store with a translator?
My kids are scared and got the impression speaking Chinese is going to
getting them in trouble, I now need to take them to see counseling. I always
told them Dad is very proud to speak three languages English, Chinese, and
Russian. And I hope them to be bilingual at least and maybe speak three or
more languages.
My fellow brothers and sisters, anyone with legal experience, please help me
with advice.
Even with small chance to win, I am taking them to court.
I am going to show them who is the real American.

Well, a store is a private property. Basically, the owners can set up
whatever rules they want.
However, these rules cannot be conflicting with federal regulations, etc. I'
m not sure how this situation could be handled well. Consult a lawyer and
see if that 'English only' sign might be taken out or something.

This is clearly a race discrimination.
The clerk does not care who the chinese are, as long as they are chinese.
I do not know how you can laugh.

Absolutely not, it's a place open for business, that means it's a
public place. Public places have anti-discrimination laws. For example,
you can make a rule that blacks are not allowed to enter your home,
but you can't make a rule that blacks are not allowed to enter your
store (that is open for business).

Please search and gain good evidence before saying "absolutely not". :-)
There are three different levels of private property:
1- Closed to the public ~ This would be your Home or your farm/car/boat/
backyard/attic/etc. These spaces are truly private property. It includes
anything you own that the public may not have access to without your
permission. DON’T confuse #1 Private property with #2 or#3. Things change
when you are running a business, especially a Large corporation.
2. Limited access to public ~ This would be defined as exactly what its
listed as: Limited access to the public. A “my way or the highway” stance
is acceptable in this kind of business. Normally this kind of business/area/
event would be a private club, a private store, a private group, or a paid
membership store (like SAMS Club for instance). Basically a place/area/store
that “allows the public” to enter/join/use its products or services as
long as you agree to follow the rules that are set. Sometimes, those rules
say no weapons and you have the choice to accept those rules or not join.
3. Private property that is open to the general public. [public (private)
property] ~ Normally, these places allow just about anyone in – a sort of
open door policy – although they are technically private property. By “
open door policy, I’m referring to places like Wal-Mart, Starbucks, and
just about any retail outlet and restaurant.

在 walmart,律师会说不要钱帮你打官司事后分账;
在一个小P店,你拿钱请律师帮你打官司人家都看不上眼;

“A gun store is nothing special, just like a Walmart store.
Actually Walmart is the number one gun seller in America.
It is open to public, anybody can walk in and do business with them.
Therefore it violated Public Accommodation law.
This is confirmed by several lawyers.
Google review上另一个人给他爸爸当翻译也被歧视骚扰。”

You'd better try harder on your logics. It's NOT that #2 include ONLY those
stores with memberships - a member-only store is just one example. There are
private stores open to public that have their specific store policies.

Well "privately owned" means you (the customer) can enter only because the
owner allows you to. The owner can deny you access at any time, without any
reason...
That being said, this privately owned range is also a business. There must
be laws and regulations that govern this type of business. I'm not sure if
there is anything that says a range owner cannot deny someone's access based
on what language they speak in the range.

No, a business that is open to the public, without membership,
is considered PUBLIC PLACE. There are federal laws and also
state laws in this country, and the law (ie Civil Rights Act of 1964),
says They CAN NOT selectively deny entry/service based on RACE,
LANGUAGE, RELIGION, GENDER, NATIONAL ORIGIN etc...
So no, they can not deny without any reason. A lawful/valid reason
must be provided in order to not be charged with discrimination.
Only private club/store that are strictly membership based are exempt.
