Moody’s Community Reboot – Computer Donation Program
Recycling for Impact
Moody's Community Reboot serves two purposes—to keep electronics out of
landfills and to equip eligible nonprofits with technology to advance their
mission. Serviceable computers will be made available to nonprofits
nominated by Moody’s employees. To be eligible for the donation,
nonprofits must work in one of The Moody’s Foundation’s interest areas,
meet the Foundation’s eligibility guidelines (as outlined below) and have
Internet connectivity. The Moody’s Corporate Social Responsibility team
will review each nomination to assess the donation’s potential impact on
the organization and its clients. Nonprofits may request computers for their
programs or administrative purposes as long as the donation contributes to
the advancement of the nonprofit’s mission.
Moody’s Community Reboot Guidelines
Eligible Organizations
Organizations in the New York Metro Area, San Francisco, Mexico City, S&
atilde;o Paulo, Hong Kong and London are eligible to apply. To be eligible
in the United States, organizations must be recognized by the Internal
Revenue Service as tax-exempt and qualify as a public charity under Section
501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. Organizations outside the United States must be
charitable in nature and adhere to the local laws governing nonprofit
organizations. Additionally, for UK charities, they must be registered
with the Inland Revenue, and for Hong Kong charities, they must be
registered with the Inland Revenue Department. Nominated organizations will
be reviewed, and contacted as necessary, to verify charitable status. The
organization must have full-time, paid, professional management and must
serve the community at large. All organizations (i) must sign a Computer
Donation Letter Agreement provided by Moody’s Information Technology to be
eligible to receive the computers; and (ii) provide a certification
regarding erasure of hard disks after receipt of the computer donation.
Ineligible Organizations
Ineligible organizations include:
• private foundations
• religious organizations such as churches, mosques and synagogues,
except when the organization sponsors an ongoing secular community service
program that is open to all persons and does not promote a specific faith,
such as running a soup kitchen or shelter
• political organizations
• organizations that do not serve the community at large
• organizations that unlawfully discriminate
• athletic teams
• organizations whose sole purpose is advocacy
Procedure
Applications must be submitted via email to Jennifer Stula Rivera, Manager,
Philanthropy Program (j*************[email protected]) no later than 5:00 pm EST
on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. A decision will be made by Moody’s Corporate
Social Responsibility team and the selected institutions will be announced
