I ghosted a windows xp to a new disk. When starts the new disk, it is fine
until reached the windows login screen. the icons for user accounts are not
shown. The entire screen is frozen even though the mouse icon can move
around. Anyone knows what causes that? Thanks.

试试下面这个办法，也许管用：
找另外一台机子，跟这台机子接到一个router 上面去或者用crossover cable 连载一
起。启动两台机子。
在正常的机子上运行 regedit, File/Connect network registry, 点 advanced, "
Find now", 如果能找到这台机子，选择，然后点"OK". 可能需要你输入用户名，密
码。
如果成功，应该在注册表里看到这台机子。进入 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/
mounted device, 把C: 跟windows 所在分区的条目删掉。
File/Disconnect network registry.
重启机子。
或者换用 acronis true image 作clone
