No. mainboard is asus cuv4x with via appolo chipset.
I visited the ATI website. they said that the win2k cd has
the display
driver for xpert 2000 , (Display Driver Version 5.0.80) see:

s_win2k_drivers.html
did you ever change the video card to another one and
successfully load win2k, poorboy? or did anybody have the
experience on loading win2k with ATI xpert 2k?
thanks for any input.

去掉所有的shadow,bios cache 和video cache。
查一下你的显示卡在不在MS提出的HCL兼容表内。
有些OEM的卡是不兼容的，即使图形处理器一样。
