If you have encrypted the old files in XP or 2000, those files are
gone forever. (let me know if you find something useful, I have all
my old financial files locked).
Otherwise, if those were just bloced by xp's security, log on as
admin and change the security settings. You sound like using xp
home, which means you need to reboot to safe mode to logon as admin.
