I have a laptop that works great except its cd-rom is not working.
Now I want to reinstall the WinXp system, is there a way of doing it
in this case? I have an external cd-rom and external usb-2.0 hard
drive. Thanks a lot.

可不可以试试dos启动了以后从硬盘安装?
如果光驱不能用,机器支持软盘启动或者u盘启动的话.

谢谢。但是如果硬盘上没有特别的分区有Windows备份，不知怎样
用。软区倒是有。

没分区先分区,pqmagic.
然后如果能进系统,挂usb拷,
不能进系统,软驱启动,挂usb驱动,拷.

Thanks again. Sorry for my ignorance, but if I boot my laptop by floppy disk,
would it be able to recoganize any external usb cd-rom or external hard drive?

要不说让你加载usb驱动啦.
或者找一个加载usb驱动的dos启动盘.
这个应该好找.
比如sos启动盘.
