My professor told me this story. He used to be an IBM manager.
One day he found a mess on the floor and asked a programmer to sweep the
floor. The programmer answered him, 'it's not my job.' So the manager swept
the floor himself and let the programmer go right away.
Your company pay you to get the jobs done no matter you like it or not. I
will probably say no if I am sure the manager can find someone else to do it
with no problem. As an entry level employee, I would say it's kind of risky
to say no.
Anyway, just my personal opinion.
You always have the right to say no.

Well, if I were that employee, I'll suit the company and I am pretty

I was surprised when I heard the story myself. Okay, Maybe he did not say
right away. But that's the reason he gave me and it sounded he was so upset
that he did not wait too long to send him away.I did admit that he already
retired and think in an old fashioned way.
Anyway the reason why I share this story is if you were the boss what kind of
the employees you want to keep. Think in this way, then you will know what
to say and what not to say.
