Weclome to English @ the movies where we teach you American English heard at the movies. Today we are taking the phrase from the movie "Vacation". It is a comedy about a family taking a vacation like the one the daddy took with his family thirty years ago. The phrase we want you to learn is "stand on its own". Let's take a look.
---My trip to Wally World when I was a kid was the best time that I ever had.
---So you want to re-do your vaction from thirty years ago?
---We are not re-doing anything. This will be completely different.
---I have never even heard of the original vacation.
---Doesn't matter. The new vacation will stand on its own. OK?
So what does that mean to "stand on its own"?
A). stay on one place
B). be independent of others
