Position: Integral Project Leader in Philips Research Asia
Department Description:
PRA-S focus on breakthrough innovation, aimed to generate new business for
Philips, and to support existing business. Working with industrial and
academic partners to speed up innovation and help create technologies that
really matter and get adopted.
PRA-S is an integral part of Philips' international research program and
have extensive collaborations with the Philips labs across the world. PRA-S
currently has over 80 research scientists working in the fields of
Healthcare, Lifestyle Applications, and Lighting.
The main research areas of PRA-S are Lifestyle Applications, Healthcare, and
Lighting Systems and Applications
Responsibilities:
As Integral Project Leader you are overall responsible for the execution of
Contract Research, company funded research and IP&S funded research projects
according to time, cost and quality requirements. Manage the communication
and cooperation to enable successful transfers of innovations from PRA-S to
CL sector.
• Set-up project team and lead one or more multi disciplinary
project team(s), with internal and external project members and business
partners/sub-contractors to maximize the efficiency by understanding their
unique and complementary roles, interdependencies and responsibilities of
each provided direction.
• Define/specify ambitious yet achievable project goals,
deliverables and acceptance criteria within constraints of budget, time,
quality and strategic boundary conditions.
• Monitor, report and present the progress regularly, tackle
the underperformance, takes the corrective actions in timely manner. Provide
regular project progress status report, highlight variances to plan and
escalate for support.
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders involved in
defining, developing and releasing projects, being able to understand and
bridge different views
• Establish an adequate information, review and decision
structure within the project team and with the stakeholders of the projects
to ensure a proper insight in the status of the project
• Build and stimulate effective relationships with the project
principle, resources managers, support teams and stakeholders of the
projects in which you are seen as professional.
• Establish an inspiring and challenging atmosphere and manage
conflicts within the team
• Drive continuous improvement of the ways of working, tools,
methods etc.
Profile:
General
• University degree in a relevant technical subject,
preferably Physics, Electronica Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Bio-
mechanical engineering.
• Proven track record and preferably experience in leading
international, multi-disciplinary, product development projects in a R&D
environment.
• Broad experience in predevelopment and product development;
experience in PHILIPS IPD and mass production is an advantage.
• Strong drive for results with strong problem solving
capability.
Expected Areas of Competencies
• Experience in understanding and translating consumer needs.
• Experience in leading in a multi-site multi-partner
development environment.
• Experience in analyzing the stakeholder environment and
needs to achieve common objectives, considering contradicting interests and
making the best decisions for the project as well as the business.
• Negotiation skills.
• Experience in balancing risks and opportunities of
innovative solutions.
• Preferably to be familiar with Design for Six Sigma, Lean
development, FMEA,…
• Creative, analytically strong and also hands-on.
• A strong leader and a team player. An excellent communicator
and motivator, skilled in managing interpersonal processes.
• Able to continuously challenge the status quo, with a strong
desire to improve organizational effectiveness structurally.
• Always looking for perfection and don’t accept
