First, I would like to talk about this career in two cases, since we are
chinese.
1. You don't have green card.
Actuarial job is stable and boring. You will not get fired unless you can't
pass those exams or you commit a crime. It is a safe option if you are
still struggling for a legal status.
about salary: if you have 2 exams then you will get around 53k, (I got 60k
several years ago because I have greencard.)
When you earn your FSA title, your earning will be around (70k---120k).

I think it applies to almost all kind of technical jobs that the salary will
not increase endlessly unless you eventually move up to corporate level.
In law firms, if you don't step up to be a partner in a few years after law
school, you will just become in-house or something similar, and still far
from $200k. On the other hand, the life will be much more enjoyable than
being a partner who may easily gets $300k.
Same here in actuary. If you stay as a pure FSA, you earn relatively little,

Maybe I should add this opinion to this post, although I don't want to
disencourage some of you guys.
To be a middle level manager is not easy. If you have kids, this position
might make you life harder. I have two co-worker in my team, and they were
director of some other companies before. I talked with them a lot, and they
told me how stressful the life were to them couple of years ago. One of
them used to go to work 6:00am everyday. So right now, if there is a
