提前一年拿到tenure。回想起来，误打误撞地做对了以下几件事：
1. 只要有论文竞赛，我都尽量投稿。先后得了几次奖，这些外奖基本封住了P&D委员会
的嘴。从头到尾没人question我的research。看来“外来的和尚会念经”是颠扑不灭的
真理。
2. 把学生哄高兴了，讲课时尽量加笑话，尽量结合最近的球赛（我教统计和商科），
学生顿时觉得和我的距离近了。Student evaluation除第一学期外，一直
significantly高于系平均值。P&D的人非常满意，没有任何question。我不排除有些学
生是以是否学到东西来评估你的教学的，但我以为绝大多数学生是以你是否nice,
interesting来对你品头论足的。
3. 削尖脑袋钻进几个journal的编委队伍，还担任两次guest editor。P&D中有人提出
校内的services不足，但也有人说我的external services提高了学校的曝光率。正负
相抵，没给我添大麻烦。

Macbook的腕托，用了几个月之后裂了，掉下来几片渣。好在还在保修期内，去天才吧
修好了。换的好像是一种新材料，心想还不错，有希望解决问题。结果过了几个月现在
又裂了，继续掉渣中。出了保修期，不知道找天才修要花多少钱。我说这材料也忒脆弱
了吧，比我的肛门裂的还频繁。

这绝对是design defect。是因为每次关机合上本子的时候屏幕上方两个凸起长条
接触（或碰撞）面板边缘，时间长了自然就裂了。
我的也裂过，过了保修期，去网上看，很多人都有这问题。去apple store，也给
免费换了。

In my opinion, business "professors" are not "real" professors. They more
like "tenured instructors" (for MBA) plus probable researchers. They
TYPICALLY don't have funding and TYPICALLY don't supervise PhD or MS
students or postDocs, hence, they are not "advisors", and most of them most
likely don't have the leadership experience of building and leading a
research team.
I think a real professor should have three components: instructor, advisor,
and researcher.

I can give you tons of examples of those fail to get tenure, everyone of
them has more than one A journal publications per year.
In top schools, impact is more important than just an A paper.
Of course, there are those on the other end of the spectrum, who get tenure
with only a few As but many questionable (which means B+) paper, those
usually are politicians.

商学院里面难发paper的专业，第５年末能有５片A发出来的，应该是稀有动物吧.
当然说的不是那种博士生毕业就可能有几篇A的专业

That's why it is important to publish single author As to show independence.
Each b-field typically has 3-4 A journals, plus a couple of A-. Finance has

Finance does not have more A journals. A JPE or an AER or an Econometrica
will count as A for whichever field in B-school.
Nobody gets an A paper with minimum contribution, except for those who sleep
with their boss..... which I have seen one or two..

schools don't get tenure.
Maybe it is better to start at a lower tier school, so it would be easier to
get tenure. it is even hard to watch those jr. faculty struggling to get
tenure. Do not want to go through all that.

This is a life we signed up for. But I don't think bschool professors are
less or more stuggling than other professors as far as getting tenured. They
simply get paid better due to the law of market supply and demand......
