That's because you don't understand the Macintosh well.
Trying something new is always not as comfortable
as dealing with something your are familiar, at least
for some people.
To mimimize the window, click the small squre at the
upper right corner of the window. By the way,
the End, Home, PageUp, and PageDown are not
in the original Apple keyboard. From Job's vision
(that's quite questionable), mouse should be
enough for the navigation. However, some
