拿到一个工作在tarrytown，工资10万加保险和bonus。个人感觉这个地方生活费用很高
，不知道这个工资够不够养一家人，共四口。父母有时来住。不知道最好租房子在什么
地方，必须考虑孩子的上学。请教大家尤其住在附件的各位的任何建议。不知道是不是
tarrytown的工资比其他的地方高很多。我的意思是10万是我们专业的工资水平，如果
tarrytown普遍都高的话，我是不是可以和公司要加工资，如果加，多少比较合适20%
？。我申请的时候没想到tarrytown的消费水平，所以就填了10万，公司最后就给了10
万。目前还有一个小学校的offer,没有博士项目，工资8.5万，不过消费水平低，感觉
很快就可以买房子了。

请大家帮我看看这辆车，查的carfax.
第一个owner 一次total loss reported, airbag deployed,一次severe damage:
Accident reported in Saint Louis.
Involving front impact with another motor vehicle.
Front airbag deployed.
第二个owner 一次severe damage:
2009年一个rebuild title issued.
Manufacturer's recommended maintenance performed.
Oil and filter changed chassis lubricated.
报告是说有过2次accident么
能看出事故的严重程度吗
这辆车的其他条件我都很喜欢，里程数，车型。
我不知道accident意味着什么，是不是有accident的车隐患特多，所以都不能买，还是
也分事故的情况而定？

I wouldn't buy this kind of cars.
They are totaled by insurance companies and some savage yard rebuilt the
cars using
the cheapest methods available. You never know what is broken inside.

Tarrytown 和周围比还不算贵•$ 2000左右可以租2B1B的apt, townhouse or
single house w 3B or more are probably over $2500.

这个看你住哪里了，Tarrytown的学区不好，没有必要住在那里。
如果非要住在scarsdale或者chappaqua这些非常好的学区，租房子2500-3000。
不过如果考虑一些中等的学区，1600也能搞定。
不过整个westchester房子都很贵，而且很旧。

宁可选年数高的也不能选accident的是这么个普遍规律吗？

如果你说的是Westchester的Tarrytown的话, 也许我可以帮助你
正好我就住在Tarrytown旁边.如果考虑学区的话,Tarrytown学区不算好,很多墨西哥人.
周边的好学区是Irvington,Ardesly. 2室的公寓话大概2000到2500,3室的house大约
3500-4500.周边的底端房价大约60万到100万,地税大约每年20k 到35k.

这种车，除非极便宜，比如trade-in价格的一半，买了就想到随时扔的，否则就不要考
虑。

楼上说的很对，我当时visit的时候就想这的房子怎么又老又旧，一看价格，随便一个
都1百万。在我们大农村，只要10万就买了。
我就是说的westchester的tarrytown.多谢lyric的建
我刚知道纽约州税10%，我的天，如果算算我到手只有7万块，除掉租房钱，生活还不如
我在农村的好。要不是公司好，还真不用考虑了。
大家觉得纽约的好处是什么，关键是如果养不了一家人，过段时间才发现，再换工作就
得不偿矢了。不知道大家怎么看。是否在纽约fresh phd的工资都至少有10万块呀！

NY Income tax is 8.75%.If you don't buy a house, 100k is still OK. When you
have more work experience, I think your boss will raise your salary.
you have more opportunity for your career when you are close to NYC. Plus
there is a big Chinese population in Westchester, when you come here, you
will not feel lonely. Your kids will have a lot of Chinese friends.
The downside is living cost here is very high. not only housing, but also
child education. I think people here feel more financial stress than other
places due to peer pressure.

well... my friend bought a salvage title and it's been 3 yrs now, still
running... so if u can find a good mechanics, just run a thorough check and
see whether it's worth the $....

salvage的车要买还真是跟买彩票差不多. 有好的,但更多的可能买了要后悔. 别的不说
,门框有点变形漏水估计你买前怎么都查不出来,买后想修基本没可能.
