我要成名，因为不甘寂寞。
厌倦了实验室的生活，也不屑等死一般的生活方式。
我要成名，因为我有一些观点需要世人知道。
在底层的呐喊被世俗的嘈杂淹没，让我无法呼吸了。
我要成名，那样我可以为这个世界做更多的事情。
愿意做蜡烛，愿意奉献，却不甘平庸。
我要成名，因为我不想被历史冲走。
要把自己的名字写在史书上，让后人知道我曾经奋斗过。
蹉跎岁月，在无奈之中叹息。
我不能这样死去，不！不！绝对不能！！！
我要用我的生命，来献祭那崇高的理想。
今生，不能虚度。

干的好也有可能转成tenure－track的，我们系的一个中国的research associate
professor今年转成AP。

It is a non-tenure position.
They can have their own lab, but have to support themselves by their own
funding and grant.
If they have no grant, they have to leave or folow another senior PI.
One research professor (also the deputy director) in my institute is the
pioneer in our research field, and grabs almost 10 million funding in the
last five years.
But, he still only holds professorship without tenure.

Postdocs are not allowed to apply for many of the grants.
Research track professors are independent researchers, thus can apply for
grants.
Research track professors do not teach; they are solely supported on soft
money. Tenure track professors must teach.
In my department, research track professors are paid the same way as tenure
track professors for the same rank.

His academic career initially followed research faculty track, and he has no
desire to shift to tenure track. Although he has no obligation to teach, he
share
the benefits the same as tenured or tenure-track faculty.
The most important point is that he can be an independent PI.
