一般企业的hiring process中间走到哪一步会要background check呢
我现在很迷惑的是一家公司一边继续要电话面试我 一边就要开始背景调查
背景调查是外包给第三方做的，说明了只是30天内有效
这是不是说这家公司会在30天内做决定呢？

From my experience, generally employers won't do background check before
extending you an offer. They may just gather the information in advance.

呵呵，做生物的人我看是闲得慌，又幼稚（好听点是有盲目的激情），
估计平时除专业外的杂志是不怎么看的，
美国那些名人如果都有这样脆弱的小心灵，啥媒体都不敢看了。

So what? Think about the most recent examples Fu Jin and Lu Jun and tons of
other examples we know and we do not know. It is not bias, it is truth.

There might be some "drugs" to disqualify Chinese for Noble prize.
Especially, those Nobel committee members might just read News from Nature.

you think too much...
you need to read more...even if you only read Nature, you need to read more
about Nature news...any country, any person, can be negative or positive
there...in fact, on average, it is rather neutral...

要是你只看得到difference，看不到他本质上相同的地方 ----- 相同的问题，相同的
解决的方向，相同的需要有愿意行动的人做出努力，而不是站在一边耍嘴皮子 ---- I

last night I read Time and found some articles and columns about those two
presidential candidates are pretty harsh. for myself, I time to time receive
some nonsense comments from paper/proposal reviewers. years ago, when I was
a postdoc working under a famous and powerful person, I still received one
reviewer' comment like "these medical experts apparently do not know...."
what are you going to do? we have to be tough and let facts speak.

I cannot appreciate your comparison between celebrities and average people,
like most of MITBBSers.
True though. You might overlook many unfair anonymous comments or just from
your mentored PhD students. But if the president of ACS singled out all
Chinese chemists for suspected cheating, you might not be able to keep your
cool. Even though that president might not directly evaluate your promotion
or grants.

You thought too much, this time.
First of all, this piece of Nature News is a garbage, which however might
reflect the mentality of Nature's editorial team. I think this is exactly
what I want to protest.
Second, even Carl Lewis openly admitted doping. It seems nobody cares
anymore.
Third, Ye is a victim, anyway. To some extent, we fight for our own
interests, but took the advantage of her name.
Again, you can put yours thoughts on this BBS whenever it is not down.
I am not, and will be not shame of what I thought or did, no matter what the
consequence is. Because I am doing for my own good.

no, I am not against a commentary like Jiang Lai's.
That's the normal procedure we should proceed.
however, I do not think it is a big fuss at all or Nature really apologized
for what many commenters and people here perceived.
