The 2013 Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award honors two scientists

Richard Schellerd得奖的工作是他在Stanford MCP department时做的,后来move到了
genentech。Tom Sudhof也是这个系的faculty member。
说起来,Stanford的这个系还是很牛的,一共大概15,6个PI,除了今年的这个lasker
,还有去年的化学诺奖,而且Steven Chu归Stanford之后的first appointment也是在
这个系,那么就有两个诺奖了,再加上其他大概3,4个HHMI,等于说这个系tenured
prof大多都是业界的顶尖大牛学霸们,在这系做junior faculty的人还真是压力大啊。

Südhof是大牛,每个做突触递质释放的都应该知道这个人。
阿戈觉得如果神经递质的分子传输(exocytosis / endocytosis)有诺奖,得奖的将会
是 Südhof 和 De Camilli。
如果涉及到神经可塑性(plasticity),可能会 Südhof 和 Nicoll 组合。
若涉及到更高层次的功能比如神经系统和学习记忆的分子机制(learning / memory)
,那也许是 Südhof 和 Siegelbaum 去share了。

Stanford 很牛不假,但是他家喜欢挖“潜在”的炸药得主是有名的,另外比较有名的
是southwestern。
至于sudhof来stanford的原因,呵呵,估计跟他的新晋小夫人有关吧。。。。

小夫人不假,新晋就说不上了吧,他们结婚期间这位小夫人去berkeley从AP到拿到
tenure,还拿了个MacArthur Genius奖,然后又move回到Stanford,也有很多年了。。。

只能说人家效率高,拿奖/换老公/生娃/甜妞/搬学校/
而且她那文章在Ucb能甜妞我不信没有其它因素。。

按照今年的发奖主题和工作类似性,阿戈个人认为,和Rothman,Schekman 去 share
的应该是Camilli。而Südhof则可以在未来和其他人去组合(比如更接近Neuroscience
的主题)。
当然,有的人拿奖是必然的,即使现在没有,以后也会迟早轮到。
除了今天的Südhof,跟 Neuroscience 沾边的阿戈觉得以后还会有 Julius 和
Camilli;当然,一定少不了Deisseroth。

当然人家本来也没想挖,可是小夫人有孕在身,怎么能不投奔呢?哈哈
