Two offers got three weeks ago. One Industry Flag, The other National Lab (
PostDoc, about 75K). Both in Distributed/Clouding. Have to make a decision
this week.
Have three first-author conference papers, and three first-author
transactions (two published/accepted, one submitted. transactions are not
extensions of conference paper). I have interests in both academic and
industry (someone may say it is not likely, but I believe that really
happens to me).
My advisor always warns me of the long-term risk of industry jobs. Can
somebody tell me how risky it is in a long-term? I tried to get some ideas
by googling around engineers who had a Ph.D and worked in industry for over
10 ten years, but I only got more confused...

昨天受到移民局notice update msg，然后上网查了一下status, 说是卡已经寄出了，
状态是card production, 今天又收到notice msg, 然后查就变成decision状态了了，
说给我mail了一个 notice

Just ordinary fresh Ph.D salary: a little bit over 10K base, some sign-on
bonus for 2 years, some restricted stock shares. I am not very much
concerned with the short-term salary:-)
