Postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Felix Feng,
the Vice Chair and Director for Translational Research for the Department of
Radiation Oncology at UCSF. Research in the Feng Laboratory focuses on 1)
interrogating genomic and transcriptomic data to identify mediators of
disease progression in prostate cancer and other malignancies, 2)
determining the mechanisms by which disease drivers promote carcinogenesis
and metastases, and 3) developing novel therapeutic strategies to target
these molecular drivers of disease. The laboratory team seeks to integrate
informatics-based discovery approaches with wet lab validation studies, and
has recently published a number of studies, in journals such as Cancer Cell,
Lancet Oncology, Nature Genetics, Cancer Research, Molecular Cell, and
Cancer Research. Over the past two years, all graduating postdoctoral
fellows from the Feng laboratory have secured their own independent faculty
positions.
Highly motivated individuals with strong backgrounds in molecular biology
are being recruited. Potential projects include the identification and
characterization of genes involved in prostate cancer pathogenesis, the
development of targeting strategies for novel kinases implicated in prostate
cancer progression, and the investigation of novel therapeutic combinations
. Techniques range from high-throughput in vitro screens to standard genetic
/epigenetic approaches to in vivo mouse modeling.
