Personally I feel there are several areas:
1.Process:Most easy to get a a job.You can find a job in refinery,
petrochemicals, food,...
2.Polymer
3.safety.It's easy to get a job in this program,however not a lot of such
programs in US.
4.Process control
There are also a lot of other important factors like which university you
graduate,location ,alumni,
The most important is LUCK.....

Process is about process design,like process simulation,process
optimization,design the process and review PFD and P$ID...
Process control is more on the electrical side,like DCS,computer control etc
...
