only useful if you look for academic positions.
however, such openings are extremely few simply because structural
reliability is "theoretical" in structural engineering. ordinary
universities do not like to hire such guys, good schools usually have
already people working in this area.
if you look for industry jobs, it does not matter at all what you do for
your graduate study, because you start as entry-level what so ever if you
never worked before.
