I need to do stability analysis for an earthen berm. The berm is has top
with of 20 feet, sideslope of 2:1 (H:V), Height of 15 feet. The soil is
compacted clay. 5-foot water is ponding again on one side of the berm. I
computed the hydrostatic forces against the berm. What kind of analyses
should I do for the berm (like friction, bearing, ...) to determine that the
berm can withstand the hydrostatic forces? I don't know much about soils
and structural analyses. Any input from you guys will define

谭家真是传奇啊,7代都在唱戏;
第一次听谭富英的戏是“草船借箭”,但主角是马连良,所以谭的光芒完全被盖住了,
后来听得多了,觉得还是赶不上余叔岩的唱。
但是谭家这个“舌侧音”的特点基本从谭富英开始就多少有了,到了元寿更甚;现在谭
正岩嗓子非常的亮,甚至有点“左”,其实可以学余,扬长避短,听小谭唱戏,一点都
不担心他的高腔,倒是觉得味道欠缺些。
有一版龙凤呈祥是小谭和薛亚萍唱的,太有喜剧效果了,老迈的刘备嗓子那么尖亮,青
春的尚香倒反而很深沉,虽然说是以老带新,可还是别扭。。。。

Do you have soil parameters, like c',phi' or c and phi?
Do you consider seepage effect? (water table)
For slope part, at least soil parameter should be known?

人言谭富英的唱法在解放后又是一变,尤其是向余叔岩琴师王瑞芝学习以后,韵味浓了
不少。我买的谭富英全集,听了后也是这个感觉。谭富英唱在细节上处理很多地方,要
比老谭余杨这一脉的简单,但由于嗓音条件优越,反而形成一种自然朴实酣畅淋漓的风
格,所以也很不容易。因为余没留下来这些戏的资料,但和杨宝森的比。谭富英后来录
的拿手戏,比如武家坡,定军山,战太平,二进宫,都不比杨的差,有些还略胜一筹。
但是学谭富英唱对嗓子要求很高,不仅要高亢又要宽广和响亮,一般的人有一条就不错
了。他的后人虽然唱的高,但是音窄,听得有些发尖就不太好听了。其实谭正岩的虽然
欠缺,但是比起他老爸谭曾效以前已经算是不错了。

you need slope analysis program(PCSTABL code based), for instance, STABL for
Windows. both deep seated failure(bearing capacity), global failure(
slippage along weak layer)

还有就是老一辈的戏评家戏迷,比如北大的吴小如对谭富英总有些微词。大概是觉得谭
由于依仗自己自身的天赋好,所以在刻苦专研上下的功夫不够。传言谭富英不象马,杨
,奚等人练功吊嗓花的时间功夫大。

Thank all of you for the inputs. I am working in flood control area and do
not know much about the Soil/Structural analyses. I had Seepage analysis
already based on some rough estimations. No actual geotechnical testings
were done. This berm has been in place for at least 20 years and no damages
were observed in any of previous year due to flooding (water ponding against
one side of the berm due to flood). I just want a quick and dirty stability
analyses to show the berm will not be failed. In o

I will try to use Bishop's simplified method of slices to test the stability
of the berm. Is this enough? Thanks.

Before you do any analysis:
1. Do you have soil boring data below the berm?
2. Do you have any lab testing data for the foundation soils and the
embankment fill?
The typical stability analysis in your case includes:
1. sliding
2. global stability analysis
3. seepage analysis
When you run global stability analysis:
1. What stress condition to use? Steady state or rapid drawdown?
2. What soil parameters to use? Effective stress soil parameters for steady
state, and total stress soil parameters for
