After months of wrangling, the DVD Forum has given the "blue" light to the
Toshiba and NEC blue laser-based high definition DVD specification. An
international association of home electronics hardware and software companies
(i.e, the big guys who have to approve everything), the Forum is expected to
finalize the specs by May.
This new HD-DVD format will be capable of storing a maximum of 40 GB
(compared to DVD's paltry 4.7 GB) of information and will also be backwards
compatib
