Just saw the re-run of AM smooth tonight, interesting thing is, most of them
in the showdance event looked really sloppy on TV, but when I was there 2
months ago I thought they all looked great
and in the pro/am persentation of smooth, the pro looked pretty awful, worse than his student partner

Isn't that right? I sometimes have the same feeling. First time you watch a
good dance it just rocks. Second time, yap great, but not as heartbeating as
the first time - potentially because you already knew what is going to
happen. The freshly exciting moments in performing arts are really flashing
（转瞬即逝）...not usually repeatable. The performances (either dancers or
songs) that are repeatable in this sense and could still generate THE same
excitement are called 经典之作。

I wasn't talking about the speed, and I doubt the incapability of capturing
the true speed would have that much effect on appreciating the dance... What
I was talking about is the lines they are presenting in their show dances,
with the close-up shots there are so many awkward looking lines,also the
footwork, quite a bit of flaws that I couldn't see when I was 30 feet away
from them, but all exposed on TV

I also think the prof. is not as good as the am. At first I thought he was
the am... I do not like his hip movement...

video does slow things down and it makes a HUGE difference. the camera angle
is not good either compared to say the superstar video.
i wasn't too impressed with the show, but i've seen some of the these people
live and i know they're good dancers. it takes so much to withstand the
scrutiny on a video clip.
look at it from another perspective, if a star can wow you on a tape,
imagine what he/she will look like live. that's what on my mind after
watching the show:)

i'm taking things the other way.
even the top dancers look considerably worse on tape,
i have no reason to be depressed by my own dance tape.
i must look much better live. (:
