I'm taking a course about database. I whould submit a proposal for my project now. Include a description of the overall problem and how a database would be used to help solve the problem.
Can you give me some suggestion about the project? I cant think out a database, except for contact list or student information list or so.
I'm an engineering major student, maybe something related with engineering is better.

Basically a project description is given for the undergraduate
courses. If you want to get any ideas, go to the course web
site of Universities. If you want to combine engineering and
database (actually I think it is not necessary), you can search
some engineering databases courses.
I suggest you do some simple databses such as a databse
about bookstore or e-business. There are a lot of infomation
which should be considered when you design your ER-diragram.

I got a table like this:

You can do it in the client side. That is, you can customize the
query statement according to the choosed condition. For example,
you can use if-else clause in asp to decide add a certain condition.
Also, you can do it in the stored procedure. That is, you don't care
the input in the client side and simply pass the parameter to the
stored procedures. ANd you decide the query statement in your sp
according to the parameters.
