2. Running on Windows system

I don't like it because it needs SQL database. Any else?

cvs requires SQL? never heard of that.

if it were true that cvs requires (MS?) SQL Server, i don't know how
it works under *NIX.

Should I use 2.0.2.4? Is there good manual or tutorial for it? I found a
good one but it is for WinCvs 1.3.21-2.
Latest Recommended Release: WinCvs 2.0.2.4 (released 2005-08-15)
Latest Development Release: WinCvs 2.0.9 (released 2007-01-30)

这种东西不用什么manual吧，网上资料多的是，而且它应该也自带文档，
当初我记得不到半个小时就上手了，很容易的。

Finally, I am trying on "perforce".
good:
1. easy to get starter document.
2. can check out single file
bad:
1.still don't know how to branch from a specific file version. say the
latest version is 3, but how to set a branch from version 2?
2. How can show labeled files only?
I mostly like clearcase, intuitively. Is any these free software mentioned
here close to it?

i knew a couple people that once used clearcase,
now all using svn.

I never used clearcase so can't compare...
but I feel svn is very flexible and good
enough for me. spend half day read the document
carefully, do some practice on merge
and you are ready to go.

Are SVN and subversion the same software? Why does it have different name if
they are the same?
