我的情况是来美3年半,PHD,老婆F2,小孩不到一岁。没有回过国。
父亲其实是这个学期结束就退休,不过可能会返聘,所以想让他在退休前去签证
他实际是来帮忙带孩子的

Dear Honorable Consul,
My name is XX. I reside in XX. I am a Ph.D. student and a Teaching Assistant
in XX at XX University. I am a Chinese citizen in F-1 status.
I am writing this letter to confirm that I have invited my father, Mr. XX,
citizen of China, to visit my family in the United Status this summer. My
father is an associate professor in XX at XX. He is always interested in how
my life and work are in this great country. Because of my busy schedule, I
have not seen my parents in the last 3 and half years. This summer would be
a wonderful opportunity for our temporary reunion.
He will be visiting with us from July 1st to August 30th. He will spend most
of his time with my family. I also plan to show him around in XX and take
him to some interesting places such as New York City and Washington DC. (其
实没打算去这些地方玩,估计到时候也没时间,这么随便写几个地方会不会有点儿假?)
My father can afford all the cost of his travel and stay by himself. He will
go back to China by August 30th before his fall semester starts and share
his experience in U.S. with my mother. My mother is not coming because her
motion sickness does not allow long-distance travel.
I personally guarantee that my father will return to China prior to the
expiration of his stay. He has family, assets, and a stable job in China. My
father will be presenting this letter to you, together with other evidences
to establish his close ties with China.
Your kind consideration to granting him his visa is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely Yours,
XX
