really? It has been like since 2010, when I first came here for landing. Yeah, things are still more expensive than The States, but you know what? Nothing is perfect. Job is great, health care is free, and city is livable, I'm content.
Actually Canada is much better if you DON'T have a job. I lived in Canada and worked in US for 8 years and file tax return both sides. I did some comparison on tax issue. Disregard sales tax, for income between 50k to 100k, US tax (child tax credit considered) plus health premium is similar to Canada tax. Canada sales tax is higher but you get child tax benefit (奶金)payment. US only "additional child tax credit" is refundable credit, but CTB is refundable unconditionally. for normal minor health issue, canada is less cumbersome, you don't need deal with insurance and bills. was said for major health problem, you may wait longer and get less quality of care, but i don't know if that is truth.

I remember I had a skin test for allergies in the states, 10 minutes work and I was charged 1.5k, compare to the additional tax I pay here in Canada, I don't see much difference. And it's just very convenient to walk into a clinic and ask for some help for free. Anyway, still like America, but the circumstance is what it is. I don't think I want to get a green card when I hit 40 something, when I can get a even better passport in 3 years. If you can get a green card, congratulations, of not, Canada is pretty good, and I see a lot of people moved here from the states
