现在在学校做postdoc(H1),刚拿到一个药厂的offer。因为听说学校的H1 是不占每年的
总名额的，我现在的H1可以转过去吗？如果不能转，那是不是一定要等到今年10月有名
额了才能去这个药厂上班啊？

non-cap H1B cannot be transferred to cap H1B, you have to file
a separate application for cap H1B from 4/1 and wait until it
takes effect on 10/1.

Have u even ever applied cap H1B yet? If your current H1B is indeed
nonprofit non-cap, then you Must re-apply new H1B with annual cap.

Unless you had a cap H1B before AND it still has some unused
time left, you can't start work for the new job immediately
and have to wait until 10/1.

Ler7, No, I've never applied a cap hb1.I don't want to miss this offer, and
was wondering whether there is anyway I can start this new job earlier.

同意安卓鸟 除非你现在h1b已经是cap类的, 你的visa转不了 得让新公司从重办cap类
的 今年的名额4月一号开抢, 但要到10月一号才能用上前提是新东家愿意给你办才行

现在H-1B不用抢了，基本不会发生第一天就用完的情况。因为美国加大了对ICC的审查
。三哥们也知道现在这里经济形势不好，工作没有那么好找，所以，申请的人没有那么
多。有报道，有的三哥过来以后，在洗衣店熨衣服。

你可以问药厂先给你申请个concurrent H1-B visa, 这个不占名额,可以立即上班,但是
要keep current non-cap H1-B visa,concurrent 算是part-time H1-B visa吧,等10/1
cap H1-B下来了就可以转过去全职了.

I tried this method but it is denied finally.
Question is:
At school they only can sponsor full time H1-B.
With full time H1B in school, factory can not sponsor you 20 hours/week for
30 hours /week part time H1B, if they sponsor you 10 hours/week H1B, you can
only work for them 10 hours / week, and normally they ( factory) can't do
it.
