I think I read somewhere that if USPS loses approval notice and the green
card on the way then we need to restart the application process from the
very beginning? Or if USPS loses them, we just need to request a copy?

From what I learnt from my attorney, your status is more important than the
actual card. Once you gc is approved, your pr status is registered. Even if
you lose the actual card, you are still US PR and there is no need to
restart everything again. Just apply for a replaced card. Hope this is
helpful.
The actual card is just an identification document. E.g., losing your
passport doesn't mean you are no longer a citizen of the passport issuing
country.

Current status is "card/document production". Do you know where to find the
USPS tracking # so that I can keep an eye on it? Thanks a lot! I do not want

I also see posts about today the case status is "card production", then
tomorrow it changes to "initial review". I hope it will not happen to me!

haha, two and a half months. No ref :).
I hope those unfortunate things, status change back to "initial review" or
lost mail, will not happen to me!

It should be ok. The online status tends to jump back and forth a lot at
this stage. I received more than 10 text messages with status jumped between
card production and decision after the approval, but all were ok at the end

I got one, but almost missed it because it only appeared online for less
than half day and the status changed again to decision etc. You can only get
the actual tracking number from the website. The email and text msg don't
have the exact tracking number.

Thank you so much for letting me know! My case status was "card/document
production" on Friday afternoon and then "decision" this morning. I did not
see USPS tracking number. When the USPS tracking number shows up, what is
the case status? Thanks!

Thank you so much gardengarden! I kept an eye on USCIS case status and I got
the tracking number! It was mailed yesterday and delivered to my department
today! I will check with the secretary on Monday!
