Job Description
OVERVIEW:
Office location will Bay Area of California.
Provides direction and management for small to medium-sized projects and
ensures on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with
contractual obligations. The Project Manager is responsible for assisting
in scope development, assisting in scope management and commercial
performance of the project to meet project goals and objectives. May have
responsibility for subtasks of a larger program. Helps organize, plans and
defines program goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-
depth knowledge of client objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies
. Must be capable of managing a project up to $1MM in total delivered cost.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Customer facing. Acts as representative with the client and
selected subcontractors during the program execution. Negotiates changes to
the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors. Markets and
secures additional work with client. Responsible for following up on
instructions and commitments associated with the project.
• Take overall responsibility for details within the Project
Management Process.
• Oversees establishment of project plans and other documents as
required.
• Establishes the program requirements for all areas of the project
, and monitors the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these
criteria.
• Plans, directs, supervises, and controls the execution of all
business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned
project or subtask.
• Discusses the qualifications required of the key project
positions in specific detail with the department manager.
• Works with project engineers,and discipline leads to develop
budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.
Ensures that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans.
• Works with the key project individual to devise and execute
actions plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to
accommodate significant changes to the scope of work. Advises company
management of any such changes. The Project Manager is specifically
responsible for maintaining current and timely change orders.
• Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project
through application of QA processes. Monitors and reports to management on
the progress of all project activity within the program, including
significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost
or schedule. Establishes timely meetings to review project status and
formulate action items.
Desired Skills & Experience
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and at least 2-4 years of
specific project management work experience.
Must demonstrate knowledge and application of standard project management
principles.
Previous experience with quality systems & procedures, program management
and costing.
Previous experience working within a multi-disciplined teams is a plus.
Knowledge of the packaging industry is a plus. Prior exposure to packaging
and distribution systems within large computer manufacturing companies is
highly desired.
Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
Proven ability to perform in a leadership capacity, excellent written and
oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices
and regulations are required.
Microsoft Office product knowledge is required.
Expert in Microsoft Project.
PMP certification is a plus.
Must be able to be fully customer facing and capable of handling shifting
priorities quickly. The primary function for the role is Project Management
, but will include from time to time input to the functional roles of
Product Manager and Account Manager. This position will be a primary
customer contact and must be well able to represent the company's core
values at all times.
Location will be the Bay Area of California.
Prior experience working with major electronics manufacturing companies is a
huge plus
Fluent Mandarin is a very strong plus.
