AT&T Offers $58B For Large Cable-TV Company

Showing it is serious about its strategy for reaching the last mile, AT&T
late Thursday made a $58 billion bid for MediaOne Group, the fourth-largest
cable-TV company in the United States.
If AT&T is allowed to proceed with the acquisition, the carrier would become
the country's largest operator of cable service and cable Internet service.
In March, AT&T completed its $48 billion merge
