control这个方向好像很窄，搞得人少，要是你喜欢，就试试看。
control的数学基础不错，也可以换个相关方向。

我就是control的,不过我老板现在在高biomedical 信号处理.

听control的人说control基本就是数学，连simulation都比较少，如果那样的话，基本只能academia自说自话，发展潜力有限。从听说的funding和就业情况来看，如果不是百分之百的热爱control，或者对这个方向充满信心，最好考虑别的方向。

My adviser is a big name in adaptive control, but he is switching the focus
to biomedical engineering these years. I guess as for theoretical study,
these is not much left to do. But the world still needs control, I know he
has a lot application projects. Many of the control pals in my group are
doing predictive control, which involves a lot simulation.

yeah, the world definitely needs control, but most of the needs only involve
PID, or simply PI.

haha for the real-world problems, yes, PID PID and PID, and, as you said,
even no D.
But how about robotics, and other stuff. like modeling, estimation.... are
they belong to Control? Some times I get confused,..

For industrial control apps, they don't need PhDs. Experience is more
important. For high-end apps, require citizenship.
Post-doc academic research opps exist, but limited.

It is a big sadness that most control guru in academia in North America
switched to other areas due to many reasons, primarily because control
theory has little room to improve and not easy to be funded. Similarly, it
is also a big sadness that so many smart students from Automation Department
in China switched to other areas due to the decline of control in North
America.

经验很重要是不错，没有理论的指导这经验只能在一定的范围内起作用。
控制器公司， 电机公司里博士大把大把的。
机械制造公司倒是没有必要请一个做控制的博士。
