Title: Senior Controls Engineer
Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Reports to: Director of Systems Engineering
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Design control strategies and procedures to ensure reliable
performance of the flow battery and its subsystems, both under regular
operation and startup / shutdown / upset conditions
• Understand the engineering and dynamic operation of the unique
EnerVault flow battery design and develop innovative control strategies
• Lead development of electronics and software for custom sensors
• Prepare electrical drawings, specifications and test plans to
implement and evaluate control strategies and methods
• Work with test engineers on laboratory and field testing of flow
batteries
• Work with partners, subcontractors and vendors to define hardware
and I/O requirements and specify instrumentation
• Write prototype code in Labview
• Occasional travel to demonstration sites

The Individual
Education: Master's degree in electrical engineering with experience in
controls and electronics, or equivalent
Experience:
• Minimum of 8 years in industry
• Demonstrated industry experience in developing control systems
and algorithms for complex thermal / chemical / fluidic systems – ideally
process control
• Project and design experience with chemical plant equipment and
instrumentation
• Experience with design of electronic products and systems
• Microcontroller programming experience a plus
• 5+ years of programming experience with LabView and PLC systems
preferred
• Successful track record of delivering development goals on time
and on budget
