的指数期货交易上。在金融战争方兴未艾的此刻，将这个字的意义及其
运作程序弄清楚，愈来愈有必要。
Hedge，本义为「树篱」、「篱笆」，引伸为「以篱笆护卫」或「护
卫」、「防卫」。於是，在近代金融体系逐渐建造的过程中，这个字词
及其概念遂被借用，而成为一个重要的避险体制。它就是所谓的「对冲

historical perspective. However, hedge funds now don't have
much to do with hedging. Most of them are invested highly
illiquid assets (junk bonds, distressed debt, emerging
mkt bonds/equity, venture capital, private equity, etc.)
Since they take so much risk/uncertainty, their investors
expect higher return (which isn't always true).
One of the biggest hedge funds is Long-Term Capital, managed
by meriwether (the center figure in the '9
