最近听说，经济系assistant professor在评终身教职的时候，要全系的终身教授同意
，如果有一个反对，就无法通过。
然后，报送到研院，如果其他系的教授反对，也无法通过。
是这样吗？感觉难度挺大的。

我问过系里一个教授这个问题，他说根本不可能所有tenured教授都同意，相信事实也是
这样。
系里通过之后应该是报送到相关的学院，比如 school of arts and sciences，只要de
an通过就可以。如果经济系在学院地位比较高，这大概就是个形式。

You have to first get recommendation from the department. In general, if
tenured professors in your field vote for your case, other professors will
just ok it. But it is true that in general you have to get pass from all
tenured professors. I know some people were screwed because of some power
struggles in the department or college. If some tenured professors strongly
disagree, even if he/she is not in your field, you are in trouble. Usually
graduate students have very little such information. B
