- problems are not very calculation involved, but very diverse in nature.
- timewise, the exam is fast-pace, no time for 2nd check and deep thinking.
- prepare everything, collect all code standards, seriously.
- understand key part of standard specifications of bridges.
- be able to solve BASIC problems for each material type.
- get SERM, NCEES sample problems, 6-min.

My boss just took SE I and II in CA. He said exam was really not easy......

ur boss is toooooooooooooo weak
should be a piece of cake for most chinese SE

..

1. I believe my boss is not weak and he is very, very good.. Maybe just no
enough time to study.
2. He has PE license in all 50 states and we do projects all around USA.
How many people can do this? You can look around then think about it.. Can
you?
3. Ask around, how many structural engineer thought SE was a piece of cake?
I believe everybody must make great effort if he/she passed SEI and SEII.
4. Please think about it before you say something. You think who you are?

no
i know quite a few senior structural engineers who do not know what they are
doing. seriously.
not a big deal. I have projects in more than 15 states I believe.
the question is how big are those projects? 20 mil $ projects? 50 mil $
projects? or just 2 mil $ projects? (construction cost)

SURE, I CAN.
licensed in all 50 states means nothing. If you are licensed in CA by exam,
you can licensed all other 50 states by comity.

IBC

I am wondering how many structural engineers can say "That senior structural
engineer is toooooooooo weak!"?
If you do say that with full of confidence, I highly respect your ability in
this field.
If you do have projects all around country, I highly respect your firm
whatever project cost.

Trust me, SE I is not difficult at all. it tests only basic stuff.
a couple of questions:
1, does your supervisor have IL SE? just curious. i believe an SE license,
not PE, is required in IL to seal structural dwgs.
2, r u working for a consulting firm? it is not common in a consulting firm
that some people registered in all 50 states. but it is common for some
manufacturing company, like metal bldg, precast concrete, timber truss, etc.
some engineers in manufacturing firm has limited knowledge

if one has hand-on experience with these exams, just bring it on.

I have not taken SEI but will take in the future. Good to hear if what you
said is truth.
No. He is not IL SE. And I think PE civil can seal most residential/low
rise structure.
firm
etc.
I do work in a consulting/structural engineering firm.

It does matter. If everybody said SE test very easy then it is probably
true.
That will give examiner more confidence,correct?

PE means nothing in IL.
any structural dwgs PE can seal, architech can seal them too.
