A postdoctoral position in medical physics is available in the
Department of Radiation Oncology at University of Texas Southwestern
Medical Center at Dallas. The successful candidate will work on projects
related to image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) using cone beam CT
(CBCT), PET and fluoroscopic imaging. The ideal candidate should have a
Ph.D. in Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science.
Experience in medical imaging (devices or image reconstruction), image-
guided radiation therapy or molecular imaging is a plus.
Facility and Equipment: The Department of Radiation Oncology currently
has 14 faculty-level physicists, two medical physics residents, 7 full
time dosimetrists, two service and research engineers, and three IT
specialists. The Department has a total of 14 physicians and 8 residents
who provide services to over 140 patients per day treated on the main
campus with state-of-the-art machines and techniques. Our main facility
has two Varian linear accelerators with dynamic MLC, one Varian Trilogy
linear accelerator with OBI, an Elekta Synergy-S, an Elekta Gamma Knife
Model 4C, Accuray Cyberknife, two Philips 16-slice Brilliance large-bore
4-D CT simulator, a GE CT simulator, two Calypso electromagnetic
tracking systems, Varisource HDR, and Philips Pinnacle, Varian Eclipse
and BrainLAB iPlan treatment planning systems. The department will be
opening a second facility later this summer at University Hospital-St.
Paul which will house two Varian True Beam linear accelerators and a
BrainLAB Vero system.
Environment: With four Nobel Laureates and 18 members of the National
Academy of Sciences currently on faculty, the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center ranks among the top academic medical centers
in the world. The Departments of Radiation Oncology and Radiology are
an integral part of the NCI-designated Harold C. Simmons Cancer Center
which provides exceptional opportunities for translation of laboratory
science into clinical trials and provides an integrated program of
medical, radiation, and surgical oncology.
Applicants should submit CV with the names of at least three references
to Dr. Jing Wang, at j*******[email protected]
UT Southwestern is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer
