Guess you didn't have the chance to see snowstorm ? //grin :)
if there's one feet of snow precipitation plus 50 m/hr wind,
the schools and stores will all be closed. Only emergencies
are running.
Glad that the town i am living has four-star reputation on
emergency services and snow-cleaning. Admire those ppl working
in the snow :-)

people here say the snow last year was one of the biggest
within fifty years. the snow was far above the knee. yet
this state is so used to big snows that the university was
still open. and everybody was complaining.
last year in spring, as i went to MSU for a visit, it happened
to be the second biggest snow of that year. also more than
50 cm deep snow. really shocked.
