Some people use "cute" to describe a girl. But I'm not sure what it means.
So I asked my friend who is a native speaker. I got the following email.

Cute does not mean beautiful. A girl can be both cute and beautiful, but
not usually at the same time. What people have told you, that it isn't good

I think it would be very helpful to ask your friends to explain the usage of
the word "boy". :) so many chinese guys call themselves boy at age 25 or
even 30. it is so embrassing.

what I feel is that the term "girl" is used much more broadly than "boy". BOY
only refers to young males under say 18. That's why we seldom hear college
students being called "boy". Instead, they are called "guys", which can be
used to refer to any male grown-ups. However, "girl" can be used for a longer
period of a female's life. Females of age 22 can be perfectly called "girls".
It is also not rare to see females of 25 or 26 being called girls, too, as
long as they are not married yet. Above 2

were in front of me. A guy crosses by, who was kind of good-looking. Then I
heart one of the girl said to the other:" He is cute."
So, I think cute can discribe guys over 18, as for the girls, how

cute用来形容男的就和中文的帅是差不多的吧。很常用的，Friends里常用cute
来形容男的。
从原文来看，好象用于女的就好象有隐含相貌平平的意思，所以说女孩更当然喜欢
gorgeous这样的形容词啦。
