前面动词用了过去时，按照语法好像后面的从句也得用过去时吧？！用把

why? it's happening in the present sense.

do you say "he said he would come" or "he said he will come"?
it happened in the past tense because he "realized".
you can't realize something that has not happened yet, or maybe you can, but
99% of the people are not prophetic, so it would be "was".

i feel like if you say "was being done" that means it's done with, which
i don't think that's what the sentence means.
