"Blue giants have a short life" makes more sense to the native speakers, yet
you can say "Blue giants each has a short life", if you don't mind sounding
like a pedagogue. Sometimes we just are just followers, and it is good to
be followers.

in this instance, all blue giants have a singular, similar length of life
time, in this case, it is shortened.
"blue giants have short lives" eludes to similar but seperate notion.
although all blue giants might have short lives, but their 'shortened'
lenght may vary.
