在申faculty job，碰巧今年8月开会的时候跟一个很想去的学校的系主任有过简短的
talk，后来那个系主任也发email给我说希望我能申请。那么我写cover letter的时候
，第一句话可以说 Dear Professor XXX, It was great to meet you at the XXX
conference，然后接着说I would like to submit my application blahblah吗？还
是应该上来就说 Dear professor XXX, I would like to submit my application....
第一种写法会不会显得不正式？

Per our conversation, I am very interested in the position of xxx. Please
find the attached my application including xxx.
Your department provides the first tier xxx. I believe my xxx experience xxx
. I would like to follow up with you regarding your expectations and how I
can contribute. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance in
the interim.

另外当时conference上我们talk完了回来他写email给我说it was great meeting
you 然后是i hope you will apply for this position 这是一般的标准客套话还是
比较positive的feedback?
