Shuman sounds like a last name instead of first name. Haven't heard or seen
any girl with that as first name. And I have been here for more than 18
years and went through college and graduate school here.
A name is just a name, just simple as that. Why bring all the politics to an
unborn child? Pick something popular and easy to be pronounced, so she won'
t be laughed at school. She can pick a different name when she grows up.
My college roommate is an ABC, her first name is Jeniffer, but once she is
in the college, she preferred to be called by her Chinese name. So my view
is to let the child decide on her own later on. Don't force a strange name
on her just because you feels it's better for you own ego.
