My RFE response was received last Friday. Since I PPed, should be hearing
from USCIS in two weeks. Have no confidence whatsoever! If you are in the
same boat or was before, let's hope together that all our wishes would come

是个honor。不过如果你不是波士顿顶级名校(MIT，Havard，斯坦福都不算）毕业的或者
在顶级名校教书的，不要对所谓“social”报太大期望。
我去的时候工程院院长就问了我一句：你哪毕业的啊？我说XX。他就转过去和哈佛的师
弟们聊天去了。聊的都是咱campus那条街的那个bar有个美女招待之类。你根本插不上嘴
。说句话人也不回。
我跟一个在我毕业学校旁边的学校教书的AP俩在墙根互相长吁短叹了半天。

有个UW CS的女的，我跟她说话她根本都不看我。回答我问的问题之后一个字都不屑多
说。

彼此彼此。前几天我LD去DOE panel，说旁边MIT等名校的panelist见了我们这种烂校出
来的根本都不理你。主动说话也不回。

This symposium is very good. I suggest you go as this opportunity is not
for everybody. Do not be so sensitive to how others treat you. I would
talk with people whose research works are not in my area but have approached
similar problems with an interesting angle. I would ask them some
questions so I can hear what their opinions are on questions that puzzled me
.
I would focus on absorbing new ideas they presented - most of the attendees
are very brilliant scientists and engineers working in different domains.
Don't be overly sensitive about how others think about you. Often times,
people will stop talking and move on to other crowds only because they feel
the topics are no longer interesting any more. The activities were in
general very well organized and they have some follow up activities you can
also participate. How much you can learn in those kind of activities mainly
depend on how you probe people's minds and get as much useful information
as possible. So different people will have different experiences. Just want
to share mine for your reference.

这个不搭理人的肯定是男的把, 我感觉我们field女的都很谦虚,待人诚恳.男的很多都
拽的很.
btw, 说一个我的观察把,我们行业的,工程类的.我觉得名私校(e.g., caltech,
Stanford,Princeton, etc...)对我们老中太歧视!对欧洲的倒是很青睐! 我说的都是
immigrants哈. 美国本土的就不需要比较了,大家都知道. 另外,我感觉这些名私校对
ABC好像没有啥歧视,仅个人观察.一般来说,公立学校还好,招中国人,印度人比较多.
