I am using H1B working in US and plan to visit China this winter.
I want to get all the documents done in China for my future green card
applications.
My question is:
Is the birth certificate and its notarized English translation the only
thing that I need to make in China ? Is there anything else I should prepare
during this trip. Many thanks.

For marriage happened in the US, no need to do that in China :)

Thank you all so much for your warm helps.
It seems I only need to get the birth certificate.
One more question:
I was born in city A but my current HU KOU is in city B after my college.
Should I go to city A or B to get the birth certificate ?

whichever can give you the same birth address as your passport.
