Priority date is the date that you filed your I-140 to USCIS, i.e. the date
the USCIS received your applications. For EB2, you can file the I-485 only
just the priority date was current. At present, the PD for EB2 was July 1,
2006, i.e. you can't file I-485 if your PD was on and after July 1, 2006.
Only you filed I-485, you can apply for EAD (you can use it to work) and AP
(you can use it for travel outside the US without visa for coming back).

You cannot submit 485 unless your PD is current. Without 485, you cannot
apply EAD and AP.
