I'm a first year PhD student in US. I'm worrying about the following two
things on the greencard application in the future.
1. I'm going to buy a car from my friend who's leaving for China. I'm
thinking of fill out the transfer form (I don't know what the name for those
paper works is. I guess you guys all know what I'm saying) with $0, which
means it is a car that my friend give to me for free, so that I can avoid
paying several hundred tax fee.
I'm wondering whether this would have some bad influence on my greencard
application in the future, which should be n years later. My friend said
that someone might investigate me about this "tax-free car" and they could
find several thousand money transfer from my account to his account these
days, so I'm thinking of transfer from other friends accounts and I'll pay
them back. Is this a good idea, or what can I do to avoid this amount of tax?
2. I'm thinking of finding a lawyer (Is it spelling right? ==!!) to get more
tax return, which I guess a lot of students have done this. Does this
matter a lot in the future when I apply for the greencard?
Thank you guys a lot. Hope you may get what I am saying. Excuse me for the
bad English, cuz I'm not using my own computer. I'll practice more...
